IPL 2023, When Kolkata Knight Riders played Sunrisers Hyderabad, three records were broken. Last night at the Eden Gardens, the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) lost their second loss of IPL 2023. They were defeated by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 23 runs, thanks in large part to an outstanding century by Harry Brook.

Despite Brook’s three defeats in three games, SRH supported him. Last night at the Eden Gardens, the England hitter stood up and delivered the goods for the squad, scoring 100 runs on just 55 balls. For the visitors, captain Aiden Markram scored a half-century, and Abhishek Sharma amassed 32 runs off of just 17 balls.

In their 20 overs, SRH scored 228/4. For KKR, Andre Russell took three wickets in 2.1 overs. A wound prevented him from finishing his spell. None of the other bowlers for Kolkata Knight Riders were particularly effective.

While chasing 229 to win, KKR lost three early wickets, but Nitish Rana and Rinku Singh helped the local team get back into the game. Their 50s helped KKR get closer to 200. In the end, KKR had 32 runs to score off of six balls.

Fans at the Eden Gardens anticipated Rinku Singh to do another miracle. But when the first ball of the 20th over came, the man in form was not ready to hit. Washington Sundar received a catch when Washington Sundar mistimed a delivery from Umran Malik intended for Shardul Thakur. KKR ultimately suffered a 23-run loss.

Last night at the Eden Gardens, KKR and SRH played in a high-scoring match. Here are the three records that were broken in yesterday’s IPL 2023 game in that vein.

#1 Shikhar Dhawan’s record was broken by Harry Brook during yesterday’s IPL 2023 game

Shikhar Dhawan’s previous mark for the greatest individual score by a Sunrisers Hyderabad player in an IPL away match was broken by Harry Brook. At Eden Gardens, Brook hit 100 runs against the Kolkata Knight Riders.

At the Arun Jaitley Stadium in 2018, Dhawan broke the record with his 92 runs off just 50 balls against the Delhi Daredevils.

#2 In yesterday’s IPL 2023 game, Sunil Narine shattered the previous records held by Piyush Chawla and Parthiv Patel

Yesterday, Sunil Narine lost his wicket to Sunrisers Hyderabad for a golden duck. The Caribbean all-rounder’s tournament with the bat has been forgettable so far. Additionally, he was out on the opening pitch of the game against the Gujarat Titans.

Narine now holds the record for the most ducks by a left-handed hitter in IPL history thanks to his two in IPL 2023. Piyush Chawla and Parthiv Patel each have 13 ducks, one more than the KKR batsman, who has 14.

#3 In yesterday’s IPL 2023 game, Sunrisers Hyderabad broke Royal Challengers Bangalore’s record

In yesterday’s match against the Kolkata Knight Riders, Sunrisers Hyderabad scored 228 runs in the first innings. The Orange Army defeated KKR at the Eden Gardens and shattered Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) record for the largest team total by a visiting team.

2019 saw RCB defeat KKR at this renowned stadium, scoring 213/4. Today, SRH scored 228/4. KKR’s 232/2 score against Mumbai Indians in 2019 holds the record for the highest team total at Eden Gardens.
