History
It took some time for the Hyderabad franchise to establish its own core when the Sun TV company purchased it from the previous owners in 2012. When they hired Australian David Warner to captain the team and open the batting for them in 2015, SRH really started to take off. The southpaw led from the front, keeping his franchise owners happy. In less than a year, Hyderabad won their lone IPL championship to date. In a tense game, SRH overcame RCB in Bengaluru to win the IPL championship.
The finest run SRH had as a team in the iPL was from 2017 and 2020, when they advanced to three playoffs. They faced Chennai Super Kings in the 2018 championship game, but they fell short.
After Warner was fired from the squad at the conclusion of the season, Kane Williamson assumed control of the team in 2021. The team’s performance also declined, as they missed the playoffs in each of their previous two tries.

Key players
Washington Sundar
Washington Sundar is an incredibly excellent player in white ball format, meagre with the ball but mighty successful with the bat. Washington Sundar has quickly risen through the ranks since his memorable Test victory over Australia at the Gabba in 2021, both in terms of performance and confidence. Sundar made several important contributions in the previous season, but the Orange Army expects stronger results from the Tamil Nadu native in 2023.
Harry Brooks
Sunrisers Hyderabad became the first millionaire of the IPL 2023 Auction when they signed Harry Brooks for 13.25 crores. The England batter’s first auction started at Rs 1.5 crore. This year, he made his T20I debut against the West Indies in Bridgetown. Thus far for England, the right-handed batsman has played 17 innings and scored 372 runs. He has scored runs at a strike rate of 137.77 and an average of 26.57. He also played for England in the T20 World Cup, which they won in Australia.
Umran Malik
With 24 wickets from 14 matches for Sunrisers Hyderabad last season, J&K express Umran Malik just took off, compelling everyone to take notice. He consistently achieved speeds of 145 or above and tormented batsmen with his precision. He also made his India debut over the next 12 months and is seen as a long-term solution to India’s express pace concerns. Hyderabad has kept him and will be looking for him to upset the batsmen and uproot the timber in the IPL 2023.
Glenn Philips
Glen Philips, a hard-hitting New Zealand hitter, has been outstanding for the Black Caps in the shortest version of the game. He was purchased by SRH last season for a modest Rs 1.5 crore and might be a game changer for the Orange Army this season. On any given day, he has the ability to not only score big, but also win matches for his club. He is one of the few hitters who have two T20I hundreds.
