On March 31 at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 is scheduled to be underway. The defending champion Gujarat Titans (GT) will play MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings in the first game (CSK). After being compelled by the COVID-19 pandemic to be played in a bio-secure bubble in the UAE, the IPL will this year return to its original “home-and-away” format. Ten teams, split into two groups, will compete in the league, which will consist of 70 league games.

The BCCI, which oversees cricket in India, is debating whether to host an IPL 2023 opening ceremony. The COVID-19 pandemic outbreak was the first opening ceremony since that time. By bringing Bollywood A-list celebrities, the BCCI seeks to up the splendour of the event. Rashmika Mandanna and Tamannaah Bhatia, two actors, will reportedly perform during the inaugural ceremony, upping the glam element.

On March 31, right before the start of the event, the opening ceremony is anticipated to start around 7:30 pm IST.

“Certainly, the 31st will feature an opening ceremony. It will be brief, but we felt it was important to welcome back the home audience with a ceremony as the home and away format is returning, a top BCCI official was cited as saying by InsideSport.

A lavish opening ceremony was also a part of the inaugural Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2023, which was held last month. Punjabi music artist AP Dhillon, Kiara Advani, and Bollywood actress Kriti Sanon all gave performances at the occasion.

The BCCI decided not to hold an IPL 2019 opening ceremony in the wake of the Pulwama attack before the COVID-19 conference. The BCCI’s determination to make IPL 2023 a spectacular event can be seen in its choice to contemplate an opening ceremony this year.

Each side will compete in 14 matches during the league stage of the competition, including seven at home and seven away. Each team will play the other four teams in its group twice after being split into two groups. They will also compete once each against the other five teams. The IPL 2023 is expected to be an action-packed and thrilling event, with 70 matches spread across 12 venues over the course of 52 days.
