This competition will include five teams from the Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Giants, and UP Warriorz. The Indian Premier League has already peaked in recent years, and upcoming WPL season may present opportunities for a number of players.
The jerseys of different teams will be seen on prominent Indian celebrities including Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, Shafali Varma, and Richa Ghosh. Haynes reiterated that she expects this competition to be the next wellspring of potential for Indian women’s cricket in an interview with ESPN Cricinfo.
“The WPL will ideally draw a diverse audience of spectators who will learn about and get to know some of the female players that we have all known for a while, in the first place.
“It would also generate excellent possibilities for Indian national players. We’ve seen how helpful that is for giving foreign teams all over the world depth. The same thing occurs in the Hundred as well, albeit in a different format, if I consider the Australian system in the WBBL and what that has done for Australian cricket.
There are numerous components that, ideally, will converge through the WPL, making Indian cricket stronger as a result.
The Giants coach responded when asked if she intended to continue working in the WPL when she retired, “I reached the decision point where I knew I was ready to move on and take on a new challenge. I simply understood that I probably made the most of myself, was content with where I had arrived, and felt fulfilled.”
But she continued, “I most definitely wasn’t sitting there feeling jealous or wishing I was playing or anything similar. I am really content to be retired.”
